Learning sequence:
- Engage: Opening discussion about changes that we see through our doors and windows.
- Explore: Class “reading” of Window.
- Explain: Highlighting some of the “clues” that provide information about the changes in Sam’s life. Introduce the concept that our homes / school was not always built in this location and what could have been here before.
Reinforce the terms natural, managed and constructed. - Elaborate: Students complete their Storyboard of a window for our home / school using the longitudinal half from an A3 sheet.
- Evaluate: Completed learning is shared with other class members. Features of change are highlighted.
- Formative assessment could be focused on the understanding of terms natural, managed and constructed.
