SACE Earth and Environmental Science - Implementation Workshop

This workshop is free. It is funded by sponsors of the Geoscience Pathways Project (Inc.)
There are no fees but booking is required for catering purposes.


Presenters will include EES course writers Dr Bronte Nicholls and Kelly Sharrad, together with writers of our SACE Stage 1 EES Student Workbook, and Dr Bernd Michaelsen (GSSA), writer of our Stage 2 EES Resource Booklet and MC of this workshop. Other speakers will include NRM Education Officer, Julian Marchant, who will describe opportunities for student projects in SA National Parks and Professor Bob Hill (Director - Environment Institute, Univ. of Adelaide.

The complete Stage 1 Workbook will be provided to registered workshop participants, on a USB stick, and a number of class sets of rocks and minerals (FREE) to suit SACE EES requirements will be available, strictly one per school. Bring a rucksack if interested. Orders will be taken for future delivery by courier to any who miss out on the day.

Key Topics:

The focus of this workshop will be on practical aspects of teaching EES, including but not limited to:

  • Perusing a range of prepared assessment tasks and worksheets
  • considering ideas for the Stage 2 externally assessed: Earth Systems Study,
  • developing a Learning and Assessment Plan (LAP) for your class,
  • networking with other EES teachers,
  • sharing your ideas with others, and
  • asking questions of the course developers and workbook writers,

Intended Audience:

Stage 1 and Stage 2 science teachers and coordinators offering EES in 2019, and any other teachers who may be interested in teaching EES in the future.
