This workshop is free. It is funded by sponsors of the
Geoscience Pathways Project (Inc.)
There are no fees
but
booking is required
for catering purposes.
Presenters:
Presenters will include EES course writers
Dr Bronte Nicholls
and
Kelly Sharrad
, together with writers of our new SACE Stage 1 EES Student Workbook,
Dr Bernd Michaelsen
(GSSA), writer of our Stage 2 EES Resource Booklet and MC of the workshop. Other speakers will include
John Mignone
(DEM),
Julian Marchant
(NRM Education Officer) who will describe opportunities for student studies in SA National Parks,
Peter Reeve
(PhD candidate Flinders University) about opportunities at the Oaklands Wetland,
Professor Bob Hill
(Director - Environment Institute, Univ. of Adelaide) and
Robyn Pillans
(SACE Curriculum Officer), who will answer questions about SACE and assessment matters.
The complete Stage 1 Workbook and other new resources will be provided to registered workshop participants on a USB stick. A number of
class sets of rocks and minerals
(FREE) to suit SACE EES requirements will also be available, (strictly one set per school). Bring a rucksack if interested. Orders will be taken for future delivery by courier to any who miss out on the day.

The focus of this workshop will be on practical aspects of teaching EES, including but not limited to:

Perusing a range of prepared assessment tasks and worksheets

considering ideas for the Stage 2 externally assessed: Earth Systems Study,
-
developing a Learning and Assessment Plan (LAP) for your class,
-
networking with other EES teachers,
-
sharing your ideas with others, and
-
asking questions of the course developers and workbook writers and the SACE Curriculum Officer,
Intended Audience:
Stage 1 and Stage 2 science teachers and coordinators offering EES in 2019, and any other teachers who may be interested in teaching EES in the future.
